Ian Gill has a Certificate in Sheep Health & Production and is also an Advisor to the Moredun so is well placed to advise on all aspects of flock health planning.

Health schemes are available for Maedi Visna, Enzootic abortion, Caseous Lymphadenitis & Scrapie Monitoring. These are important for those who wish to export & import sheep.

We can help fine tune vaccine regimes for abortion, orf & footrot control. The breeding season can be controlled using teasers, sponges & melatonin implants. And we can support this with vasectomy surgery and fertility testing tups.

Metabolic profiles and trace element monitoring can be undertaken to help formulate the best ration to have your flock fit and healthy. However caesarians and post mortems can be performed at the surgery or on farm when things go wrong!

Anthelmintic resistance is an increasing problem which we can help control using wormscan packages. With this information we can advise when to dose and the most cost effective drug to use and more importantly when doses can be omitted saving time, money and preventing the development of anthelmintic resistance.

We were involved in the trials of the new anthelmintic, Zolvix, which should be included in all quarantine treatments.

Ian has been involved in developing the new Sheep Scab Order and can help coordinate treatments in any local sheep scab outbreak. We are also advisors to the Angus Glens Moorland Health Project for Tick Control.
